Citilink Spins Off from Garuda

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Low-cost carrier Citilink will within the next few months spin off from Garuda Indonesia after securing an air operator certificate (AOC), a Garuda official said.

"We will focus on spinning off from Garuda after we get the AOC," Con Korfiatis, a Garuda adviser for the development of Citilink, said here on Monday.
Korfiatis made the statement to the press after he announced the issuance of a Scheduled Commercial Air Business License (SIUAU/NB) from the ministry of transportation.

He said that after obtaining the SIUAU/NB), Citilink would process the AOC to become a genuine and self-reliant airline which was no longer a strategy business unit (SBU) of Garuda. AOC is issued by the National Flight Authority for a commercial airline after the airlines concerned provides its complete data on personnel, asset and its airlines system.

Also registered included registrations and plane types that would be used, flight purposes and specific destination routes. In the meantime, Acting Director of Air Affairs of the Ministry of Transportation Djoko Murjatmodjo said his ministry had issued a SIUAU/NB since January 27, 2012.

Djoko said that Citilink had proposed 70 domestic flight routes and 16 international routes for its flight routes. According to Pujobroto, deputy communication president of Garuda, Citilink has so far been operating nine planes with 35 flights per day. He said that Citilink hoped to serve 120 - 130 flights per day with a total plane of 20 in 2012.
